you know, Pavlov's dogs. Conditioning a person (or in Pavlov's case an animal) to associate two unrelated things with each other. In the case of the dogs, Pavlov conditioned them to associate a bell with the presentation of food. I'm pretty sure you've heard of it, just never remembered the name.
